【摘要】:Thispracticecoversquantitativemethodsforthepersonalsamplinganddeterminationofbacterialendotoxinconcentrationsinpoly-dispersemetalworkingfluidaerosolsinworkplaceatmospheres.Usersshouldhavefundamentalknowledgeofmicrobiologicaltechniquesandendotoxintesting.Usersofthispracticemayobtainpersonalorareaexposuredataofendotoxininmetalworkingfluidaerosols,eitheronashort-termorfull-shiftbasisinworkplaceatmospheres.Thispracticegivesanestimateoftheendotoxinconcentrationofthesampledatmosphere.Thispracticeseekstominimizeinterlaboratoryvariationbutdoesnotensureuniformityofresults.Itisanticipatedthatthispracticewillfacilitateinterlaboratorycomparisonsofairborneendotoxindatafrommetalworkingfluidatmospheres,particularlymetalremovalfluidatmospheres,byprovidingabasisforendotoxinsampling,extraction,andanalyticalmethods.In1997,theOccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministration(OSHA)empanelledaStandardsAdvisoryCommitteetomakerecommendationstotheAdministrationregardingmeasuresthattheAdministrationcouldtaketoimprovethehealthofworkersexposedtometalworkingfluids.AreporttotheAssistantSecretaryofLaborforOSHAwassubmittedinJuly,1999.SubcommitteeE34.50believesthattheusercommunitywouldbenefitsignificantlyifastandardmethodwasdevelopedtogivethecommunityguidanceonamethodologyforthesamplingandanalysisofpersonalairborneendotoxinexposureassessmentsinfacilitiesusingwater-misciblemetalremovalfluids,basedontheLALassayorotherendotoxindetectiontechnologiesastheybecomeavailable.Thispracticedoesnotattempttosetorimplylimitsforpersonalexposuretoendotoxininmetalworkingfluidaerosolsinworkplaceenvironments.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
